School Visits, Speaking Engagements, and Writing Workshops
I love helping people of all ages find their voices, dissect great writing, and develop a long-term interest in books and stories.
“Abby was the best! Her presentation covered everything —— her inspirations, her writing process, and as well as a kind support for students aspiring to be authors. It was amazing to see the students engage and connect with her, Abby even took the time to talk one to one with students afterwards. We would love to host her again!”
Misael Yanes, Program Coordinator at An Open Book Foundation in Washington, D.C.
“The Adelson Writing Club was so lucky to be able to host Abby White! Her ability to make conversations about writing both funny and insightful captivated students of all ages, from middle schoolers to high school seniors. I personally had the opportunity to speak to her about my own writing after the official event was over, and she was nothing but encouraging and kind! We would love to have her speak to young Adelson writers again!”
Ivory Friedman, High School Senior and Co-President of the Adelson Writing Club at The Adelson School in Las Vegas, NV
With years of educational, nonprofit, and childcare experience —— bolstered by the pedagogical training of an MFA —— I would love to talk to any group of writers, readers, or creative professionals. I aim for each of my visits to be informative, interactive, and inspirational. I can offer presentations, workshops, or keynotes between 15 minutes and two hours on topics such as:
My writing and publishing journey
Using writing craft to illuminate mental health
Craft across genres, such as revision and personal essays
The unique traits of middle grade and young adult literature
Culturally specific literature (e.g., Jewish or LGBTQ+)
Of course, my biggest goal is to give you what you need —— so if you have a specific topic in mind, I’m all ears!
I am currently booking in-person and virtual visits. For availability and rates, please reach out through the contact form.
Reviews
“Abby gave a delightful presentation to our Intensive Study Week group focused on learning about creative writing and book publishing. She was relatable and easily connected with young teens as she generously shared her personal journey as a writer. The behind-the-scenes look at her creative process was particularly fascinating and showed the importance of revision and perseverance. Abby also provided practical craft tips that my students can immediately apply to their own writing. Perhaps most exciting was the creative writing prompt she left us with, which has already sparked a flurry of imaginative ideas for my eager writers. I highly recommend Abby for a school visit —— your young readers and writers will be inspired!”
Lesley Younge, Teacher at Maret School in Washington, D.C.
“The Bookies Bookstore had the pleasure of hosting Abby to celebrate the release of D.J. Rosenblum Becomes the G.O.A.T. The event was very well received, and Abby was wonderful at engaging the audience with her ‘choose your own adventure’ style of presentation. All of our attendees were thrilled to meet Abby after the presentation and get their books signed. We would 100% have her back anytime.”
Krystal Murphy, Event Coordinator at The Bookies Bookstore in Denver, CO
“Abby delivered a profoundly moving and insightful talk that combined her expertise as both a gifted writer and someone with lived experience of losing a loved one to suicide. She shared the deeply intentional choices behind D.J. Rosenblum, offering transparency about how she crafted a story that speaks authentically and sensitively to readers ages 12–16. Her presentation was heartfelt, informative, and deeply needed —— a remarkable blend of compassion and literary mastery. This was a great opportunity for our NAMI affiliate to engage with our community and as an added bonus, we were able to provide continuing education credit for Counselors and Social Workers who attended.”
