School Visits and Writing Workshops
I love working with writers of all ages to find their voices, dissect great writing, and develop a long-term interest in books and stories.
With years of one-on-one educational and childcare experience—and the pedagogical training of an MFA—I would be prepared and enthusiastic to talk to any group of writers or readers. I aim for each of my visits to be informative, interactive, and inspirational. I can offer presentations, workshops, or keynotes between 15 minutes and two hours on topics such as:
My writing journey
Steps in publishing a book
The unique traits of middle grade and young adult literature
Culturally specific literature (e.g., Jewish)
Revision across genres
Of course, my biggest goal is to give you what you need—so if you have a specific topic in mind, I’m all ears!
I am currently booking in-person and virtual visits. For my availability and rates, please reach out through the contact form.
Reviews
“Abby gave a delightful presentation to our Intensive Study Week group focused on learning about creative writing and book publishing. She was relatable and easily connected with young teens as she generously shared her personal journey as a writer. The behind-the-scenes look at her creative process was particularly fascinating and showed the importance of revision and perseverance. Abby also provided practical craft tips that my students can immediately apply to their own writing. Perhaps most exciting was the creative writing prompt she left us with, which has already sparked a flurry of imaginative ideas for my eager writers. I highly recommend Abby for a school visit—your young readers and writers will be inspired!”
